Come and joins us !

Information for prospective new members

Questions that prospective new members might ask, together with some answers.

When do you rehearse?

We rehearse from 7.45 pm to 9.45 pm every Thursday evening during the normal school term-time.

Where do you rehearse?

Rehearsals are held in the comfortable surroundings of Cranmer Methodist Church, Newhampton Road West, Wolverhampton. This is on the north west side of the city, not far from the main A41 road to Tettenhall and North Wales.

What sort of players are you looking for?

String players

As with orchestras like ours, we are always looking for good string players in all sections. So, if you are a violin, viola, cello or double bass player of Associated Board Grade 7 standard or better, we would love to hear from you.

Wind players

We do also from time to time have vacancies in the woodwind and brass sections, where the minimum standard would be post Grade 8 or better with suitable orchestral experience.

What should I do if I want to join?

Please contact us using the details below. We do not normally audition new string members, but instead new members are invited to join the Orchestra for a trial period to see how they get on. Wind players will be auditioned and also serve a trial period.  Please ring Michael Darke on 07432 080147, or e-mail us using our Contact us form.

Memebership subscription

We do charge an annual subscription which basically finances the running costs of the Orchestra. The current rates as of 10th October 2021 and which are reviewed annually, are:

Waged:  £105 per year

Unwaged: £85 per year
